The Soroti Cricket Academy celebrated a milestone with the completion of their training nets at the Madera Girls School.
The nets are a critical component in the development of young players and the practice nets will help Soroti Cricket Academy produce world-class talent.
The development of the practice was made possible through a partnership with Cricket Uganda, which made a donation of the Astro turf material for the nets, and Soroti Cricket Academy, through its friends and supporters, raised the funds for the completion.

Having cricket nets in Soroti is a transformational milestone in the journey of Soroti Cricket Academy (SCA) and the development of its cricketers.
For a long time, SCA had to invest heavily in transporting players to Lugogo just so they could access quality practice facilities. While that exposure was valuable, it came with high costs, limited training frequency, and dependence on external infrastructure. The new nets change that story completely.

Players can now train regularly and intensively without the logistical and financial strain of long-distance travel. Skill development in batting, bowling, and wicketkeeping improves faster when practice is frequent and structured.- Cost efficiency and sustainability
Resources previously spent on transport and accommodation can now be redirected to coaching, equipment, nutrition, competitions, and player welfare, making the academy more sustainable in the long run.- Equal opportunity and inclusion
More players especially girls, younger children, and vulnerable athletes—can access high-quality training. The nets remove barriers that previously limited participation to only those who could travel.- Local talent development and retention

The academy has a great track record of producing national team players, with the majority of Victoria Pearls players being alumni of the Soroti Cricket Academy.
