Premier League legend Gareth Barry has given high praise to Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye – and has joked that he hopes the Senegalese winger isn’t signed by Liverpool as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The 26-year-old Teranga Lions star has enjoyed an outstanding season for the Toffees, with six goals and three assists from 25 league appearances.

Former Everton midfielder Barry believes Ndiaye could be a target for bigger teams in the next transfer window – even though his contract runs to mid 2029.

“As an ex-Evertonian, I don’t want to see any Everton players to Liverpool, especially Iliman Ndiaye,” Barry told BoyleSports.

“He’s an incredible player. When I’ve seen him live, he’s one of those that really does get you off your seat.

“Not many players do the sort of things he does these days. He loves to just take on players, dribble, try and beat them one on one, gets the fans off their seats. I wouldn’t be surprised if big teams, European Champions League teams are looking at him.

“A direct replacement for Salah with probably a bit different sort of player. Ndiaye sort of drifts inside a little bit more, so I think Liverpool should look elsewhere.”

Ndiaye will hope to continue his form when Everton face Brentford away from home on Saturday afternoon.
