South African football legend Teko Modise is of the thought that Ademola Lookman had a below par performance during Atletico Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal in their UEFA Champions League first-leg semi-final clash at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night.

Despite being a doubt for the tie, Lookman completed 90 minutes against Arsenal where he was criticized by Modise for not taking his chances going forward.

Modise pointed out Lookman’s opportunity in the 53rd in particular, where his shot was rifled directly at Ravid Raya in goal. As an overall assessment however, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates star mentioned that Lookman needs to be clinical in the final third.

“He could have performed better. A remarkable save was made. Whenever he is shooting under such pressure, he needs to think a bit faster,” Modise said on SuperSport, as per Daily Post NG.

“I believe he might have selected a better angle away from the goalkeeper to compel him to make an exceptional save.

“The shot he took was not far enough from Raya for him to make the stop, but those are the risks he also brings to the game.”
