The teams in Groups E and F will be jostling for positions on Wednesday as they look for favourable match-ups in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16.
Algeria take on Equatorial Guinea at the Moulay Hassan Stadium safe in the knowledge that they’ve already secured top spot in Group E.
The Fennecs recorded a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sudan in their opening game of the tournament before edging Burkina Faso 1-0 on December 28.
The National Thunder will make an early exit from the African showpiece after suffering back-to-back defeats against the Stallions (2-1) and the Falcons of Jediane (1-0).
Sudan and Burkina Faso will be fighting it out for the runners-up spot when they clash at the Mohammed V Stadium.
Kwesi Appiah’s side are currently third in the group on goal difference and if things stay that way, they will meet Senegal in the next round, while the Stallions could face Ivory Coast or Cameroon.
Group F is still undecided and Ivory Coast will look to claim pole position when they lock horns with Gabon at the Marrakesh Stadium.
The Elephants, who kicked off their title defence with a 1-0 win over Mozambique, have an identical record to Cameroon after they played out to a 1-1 draw on December 28.
The Panthers will go no further than the group stages after failing to pick up any points thus far, having been beaten by the Indomitable Lions (1-0) and the Mambas (3-2).
Cameroon will go head-to-head with Mozambique at Adrar Stadium hoping to maintain their unbeaten start in Morocco.
The five-time AFCON champions will be wary of the threat posed by Chiquinho Conde’s side, who found the back of the net three times Gabon, and things could very well be decided on goal scored.
