Former Atletico Madrid star Raul Garcia expressed that he wasn’t surprised by Ademola Lookman’s quality upon signing for the Spanish giants from Atalanta in February 2026.
While Lookman was linked with a number of sides in Europe, particularly during the last couple of seasons, the Nigerian star eventually opted for Atletico as his preferred choice.
The 28-year-old has since scored four times while providing three assists in 13 appearances this season—numbers which Garcia believes were bound to be recorded.
“He’s started on the front foot, which is never easy at a club like Atletico,” Garcia told Europa press, as per the Guardian NG.
“He’s done exceptionally well. For me, he’s a world-class player, and his quality doesn’t surprise me.”
