- Hoima City stadium 4pm
- [Kitara lead 2-1 from first leg]
Kitara have an opportunity to advance to the second preliminary round of the Caf Confederation Cup for the first time but first, they must overcome Somalia’s Mogadishu City Club.
The Royals, leading 2-1 from the first leg ‘away’ at the same Hoima City stadium where they host the second leg come into the game as outright favourites.
The Ugandan flag bearers need to avoid defeat to set up a clash with Egypt’s Al Ahly but can also afford a luxury of losing 1-0 and qualify for the next stage on away goals rule.
They have been boosted by the availability of experienced players Nicholas Kasozi, Murushid Jjuuko and Martin Kizza who missed the reverse fixture due to Caf licensing issues.
George Lutalo will be in charge on the touchline and sounds optimistic of eliminating the Somalian minnows.
“From our last training, everyone is good and looking forward to the game,” Lutalo told the media.
“The target is to play well and qualify and the return of our players who didn’t play last season gives us more confidence and choices,” he added.
Jimmy Kalema, Patrick Kaddu and Kabon Living could continue to lead the hunt for goals with Kizza another option to break into the front three.
In the middle, a decision on whether Kasozi gets a nod in the holding role will be made while at the centre back, Jjuuko will most likely partner Isa Lumu and send Benjamin Nyakoojo to the bench.
Meanwhile, despite being favourites, Kitara must take care of the visitors who were decent in the 2-1 defeat and had a genuine goal wrongly disallowed for a misjudged offside.
Kitara Probable XI: Kibirige (GK), Musisi, Jjuuko, Lumu, Aheebwa ©, Misi, Zaga, Wahab, Kalema, Kaddu, Kabon.
