Over 200 kilometers to the North West of Morocco lies the Fes city, dubbed as the ‘Mecca of the West’ and the ‘Athens of Africa’.
The city is also considered as the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco, founded under the Idrisid rule during the 8th century.
This is home to the 45,000-seater Complexe Sportif De Morocco (Fes), one of the facilities for the on-going AFCON 2025 and the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Fes stadium was the venue for the humiliating 1-3 Uganda Cranes defeat to Nigeria Super Eagles.
Along with the other members of the Kawowo Sports media family, it took us about two hours and 30 minutes to travel from Rabat city to Fes city.
Using the bus transport means, we traveled safely and it was a comfortable road trip as we enjoyed the comfort of the bus.
Along the way, varying vegetation types could be seen on the undulating terrain.
Three hours to kick-off, we reached Fes city, a busy confine and had lunch at the Amigos restaurant.
Quickly, we rushed to the stadium well in time to get access to the stadium media tribune.
Nigeria Super Eagles had a field day in office, winning 3-1 over a ten man Uganda Cranes.
Trabzonspor forward Paul Ebere Onuachu gave Nigeria Super Eagles the lead on 28 minutes.
Uganda lost captain and goalkeeper Denis Onyango through injury that he picked in the opening stanza and his place was taken by Salim Omar Magoola.
Magoola got sin-binned for handling the ball outside the goal area following a loop from the Super Eagles skipper Victor James Oshimen.
Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika Nwadike got a brace in the 62nd and 67th minutes to make it 3-0.
Uganda Cranes pulled a goal back through Rogers Kassim Mato in the 75th minute to give the handful of Ugandan fans something to cheer about.
