Youngster James Bogere is a player that continues to take any opportunity thay comes his way with open hands. The El Cambio Academy graduate keeps to show his adeptness at every challenge thrown towards him.
His inclusion in Uganda Cranes squad might have come as a surprise for many, given his age but the 17-year old striker keeps showing he is not in Morocco to make numbers but rather contribute. He has won the trust of the coaches, coming off the bench against Tunisia and Tanzania.
Against Tanzania on Saturday, Bogere won the penalty for Uganda in stoppage time although Allan Okello fired it wide.
The budding striker is thankful for the opportunity to play at this level and lauds the coaches for trusting him.
“It is a great opportunity for me, this tournament is having good players who come from big teams so I am happy for the opportunity the coaches have given me,” said Bogere while speaking to Kawowo Sports after the game.
On the progress he had had this year, playing at the FIFA U17 World Cup and now the AFCON, Bogere gives credit to the people behind him.
“What I can say, it is the mercy of God and the people behind me, who are helping and pushing me to be a great player, so I’m happy for them. The only way for me is to keep going and knowing what I want.”
Bogere despite his age, he seems to have an old head on young shoulders and continues to keep a leveled head.
He says, “ you just have to know what you want, so I stay humble because I have a great future ahead of me.”
Uganda will return to action on Tuesday in the finak group game against Nigeria in Fes. The Cranes only need a win to stand a chance of progressing to the round of 16.
